Discovery Ranch South

Discovery Ranch South, located in Cedar City, Utah, is a unique residential treatment center exclusively for adolescent girls aged 12-18. The ranch provides a deeply nurturing and transformative environment where traditional and innovative therapies converge, with relationship-driven treatment forming the cornerstone of their approach to mental health concerns. Beyond therapeutic support, Discovery Ranch is also a nationally accredited academic program, ensuring that academic growth progresses hand-in-hand with emotional healing.

The center's master’s and doctoral level clinicians are adept at treating a wide array of behavioral and emotional disorders, including anxiety, depression, trauma, social struggles, mood disorders, Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD), learning disabilities, and ADHD. Their signature CARE model uniquely addresses clinical, academic, relational, and experiential needs. The experiential aspects are particularly innovative, featuring Equine Therapy, Cow Therapy, Calf Adoption, Recreation Therapy, Music and Performance Therapy, and Sand Tray Therapy, alongside a peer leadership program, providing profound, hands-on learning experiences.

Family involvement is crucial at Discovery Ranch South, with weekly family therapy, family visits, and Parent Day activities designed to rebuild and strengthen familial bonds. Girls are also taught responsibility and accountability through participation in daily chores and the day-to-day workings of ranch life, complemented by physical fitness activities, nutritious meals, psychiatric evaluations, and medication management. This comprehensive program, including community service, ensures that residents develop essential life skills, resilience, and a strong sense of self, preparing them for a successful transition back home.
