Odyssey House – Teen Residential

Odyssey House of Utah, a non-profit dedicated to comprehensive care since 1971, provides specialized residential treatment for adolescents aged 13-18 in Salt Lake City. Their program, established in 1978, focuses on helping youth overcome addiction and co-occurring mental health challenges like depression, anxiety, and trauma, fostering long-term sobriety and personal growth. Each teen undergoes a thorough initial assessment to develop a highly individualized treatment plan, incorporating evidence-based therapies and a therapeutic community approach.

The facility emphasizes accountability and skill development, offering a blend of 1-on-1, group, and family therapy, including Trauma-Specific Therapy, Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy, EMDR, and Motivational Interviewing. Creative expression through Art Therapy, Dance Therapy, and Recreation Therapy is integrated alongside essential Life Skills training and vocational services. A unique component is Odyssey Academy, an on-site accredited high school managed by the Salt Lake City School District, ensuring academic progress while in treatment.

Clients typically engage in treatment for 6-9 months, benefiting from a structured environment that reinforces healthy routines and relationships. Upon completion, continuous support through outpatient programs and an alumni community aids in maintaining stability.
