Strong Hope

Strong Hope, situated against the stunning backdrop of the Rocky Mountains in Salt Lake City, Utah, is a specialized mental health and substance abuse program exclusively for service members, veterans, and military families. Recognizing the unique challenges faced by this population, Strong Hope provides evidence-based treatment specifically for PTSD, focusing on combat trauma, military sexual trauma (MST), and childhood trauma. As a dual diagnosis center, they adeptly tailor treatment for co-occurring conditions such as alcohol addiction, anxiety, and depression.

The program integrates a comprehensive array of gender-specific therapeutic approaches. These include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Somatic Experiencing, alongside individual counseling. A typical day is robust, incorporating 3-4 trauma and skills groups, 2 expressive/recreational therapy groups, and regular yoga sessions, fostering both mental and physical well-being.

Beyond traditional therapy, Strong Hope is committed to holistic healing and community reintegration. Clients benefit from adventure outings such as horseback riding, kayaking, and rock climbing, weekly visits to the National Ability Center, and participation in community-based AA meetings. With on-site physical therapy and a fully equipped gym, Strong Hope provides a uniquely supportive and active environment for deep, lasting recovery.
